Create a new volunteer relationship, between a chapter and a previously unaffiliated member.
Now that we've explored standard chapter officer roles, let's take a look at volunteer roles. These tend to be a little more involved, because we typically need to establish a new Group Relationship, before we can attach a Group Role. In other words, we need to ensure there is a Volunteer relationship between the Contact and the Group, before we can add a Group Role to that relationship. Let's step through it together.
Open the Contact that needs a new Role established.
Under Quick Links, hover over Group Relationships.
Look for an existing relationship that a.) is for the right Group, and b.) has a Type of Volunteer.
If you see it, click View Details.
If you don't see an existing volunteer relationship for this group, click New in the top-right corner.
Fill out this form, click Save, and you'll see the new Group Relationship you just built up.
This part can be a bit tricky, mostly because the New Relationship form was built on Salesforce Classic. If you're having trouble, be sure to watch the screencast in the left sidebar for some additional tips. 👀
Now that you have the Relationship pulled up, you're ready to add the new Role.
Scroll down to Relationship Roles and click New in the top-right corner.
The Relationship field will be auto-populated for you.
Search for and select a Contact Group Role, add a Begin Date and click Save.
